Job Description:
You will serve as a critical technical and leadership resource in the firm's traffic practice. Your role will involve leading traffic tasks, ensuring quality control, and actively pursuing opportunities for personal skill development while mentoring other staff members. Depending on experience, Technical Responsibilities may include:
Leading or executing traffic tasks related to studies, design, and project planning
Conduct analysis and modeling for planning, interchange, multimodal, ITS, and other studies
Generating reports and technical memos to document and communicate analysis and findings
Perform traffic design for maintenance of traffic, traffic control, signal, and/or lighting plans
Ensure quality assurance by implementing Compass’s quality control procedures
Establish and implement standard practices and procedures for traffic projects
Provide mentorship to new staff members as the firm continues to grow
Additional responsibilities will depend on the candidate’s experience, but may include:
Ensure adherence to scope, budget and schedule for traffic tasks
Engage in proposal development and client development meetings
Collaborate on defining project scope and fee structure
Fulfill the role of task manager or project manager
Consult on the hiring process for future staff members

What You Bring:
Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Civil Engineering
Licensed Professional Engineer in Ohio
4 to 10+ years in the transportation industry
Proven or emerging experience in traffic design plan development
Experience with traffic analysis software is preferred
Ability to work independently and handle design/study tasks
Experience with MicroStation is a plus.
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
Proven ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment
Willingness to adapt and learn new skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Cooperative, team-oriented spirit
Desire and flexibility to work both in the office and the field when necessary
Valid driver’s license with an insurable driving record. Must have a satisfactory background test.
