Job Description:
You will serve as a technical resource in the firm’s survey practice, performing field survey and coordinating closely with multiple disciplines within Compass, as well as learning new skills and mentoring future additional staff.
Job Description:
Layout grids, determine horizontal and vertical project controls, set up survey project control and notes, remove debris and vegetation as necessary
Efficiently operate robotic total stations, GPS, data collectors, conventional level, and other surveying instruments
Read and interpret survey records, legal descriptions, various construction/right of way plans, and plats
Prepare legible & accurate field notes and upload/download data including files, photos, and documents
Utilize Trimble Business Center and equipment
Boundary and monument recovery
Topographic survey data collection
Set up, maintain, and operate survey equipment, vehicles, and supplies
Perform all work in a responsible manner, follow a Health & Safety Plan, safely maneuver a project site
Be a positive representative of the company and its core values
What You Bring:
High School diploma or equivalent
5+ years of experience preferred
Experience operating robotic total stations and GPS
Experience in topographic line coding per KYTC and/or ODOT standards.
Experience using data processing software, Trimble Business Center, AutoCAD and/or OpenRoads Designer (preferred)
Experience with topographic surveys, setting project control, route surveys, ALTA surveys and boundary surveys
Must be willing to work in all weather conditions as most projects will be in the outdoor environment.
Have the physical ability to perform standing, stooping, dragging, lifting and walking for extended periods of time.
Valid driver’s license with an insurable driving record. Must have a satisfactory background test.
Willingness to learn & perform new tasks, responsibilities and duties as assigned
Ability to communicate effectively with property owners, coworkers, clients, and utility providers
Must be willing to work in a team environment and independently with varying supervision
Ability to work overtime and travel as needed
Ability to perform basic mathematical and trigonometric calculations
Must have or be willing to obtain OSHA 10 Hour Construction Safety Certification
