Job Description:
You will serve as a critical technical resource in the firm’s roadway practice by leading roadway tasks, implementing quality control, as well as learning new skills and mentoring staff. Based on the firm’s growth trajectory, this position will offer outstanding career development opportunities.
Depending on experience, Technical Responsibilities may include:
Lead roadway tasks including geometry, 3D modeling, drainage, maintenance of traffic and traffic control design
Preparation of construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates
Ensure quality by implementing Compass’s quality control procedures
Develop and implement standard practices and procedures for roadway projects
Mentor new staff as the firm grows
Additional responsibilities will depend on the candidate’s experience, but may include:
Be responsible for scope, budget and schedule conformance for roadway tasks
Participate in proposal development and client development meetings
Participate in project scope and fee development
Serve as Task Manager or Project Manager
What You Bring:
Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Civil Engineering
Licensed Professional Engineer in Ohio (or ability to obtain within one year)
4+ years of transportation industry experience including
Roadway and drainage design
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Detail oriented person capable of leading roadway tasks
Previous experience with ODOT and/or OTIC projects (preferred)
Experience with MicroStation and OpenRoads Designer
Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D (preferred but not required)
Willingness to be flexible and learn new skills
Excellent written/verbal communication skills
Cooperative, team-oriented spirit
Valid driver’s license with an insurable driving record. Must have a satisfactory background test.
