Job Description:
The selected candidate for this position will participate in the planning and design on transportation related projects. The primary duties will be to support senior engineers in a variety of tasks in bridge design.
Primary Technical Responsibilities will include:
Perform structural design calculations and bridge hydraulic design
Participate in bridge inspections, rehabilitation, and load rating
Preparation of construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates
Ensure quality by implementing Compass’s quality control procedures
Learn new skills under the direction of senior engineers
What You Bring:
Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Civil Engineering
Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (PE) certification required
2+ years of related experience
Proven hands-on experience in all aspects of bridge design projects including preparing design calculations, load ratings, reports, estimates, and plan packages
Knowledge of engineering software packages such as: OpenBridge Designer, MDX, AASHTOWare BrR, LPile, HEC-RAS, Open Roads Designer (ORD) and/or AutoCAD, and more. Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Detail oriented person capable of leading bridge tasks and leading other bridge staff
Willingness to mentor less experienced staff
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Ability to handle multiple assignments
Desire for continued career growth
Excellent communication skills
Cooperative, team-oriented spirit
Valid driver’s license with an insurable driving record. Must have a satisfactory background test
